I am looking for any information anyone might have on a James T. Williams bAug 1835 in Boone Cty, KY. Married to Elizabeth Ingram/Ingraham bOct 1840, married Nov 1857 in Grant Cty, KY. Children: John T., Martha J., James K, william H, Millard, Walter D, Nelia F., Lunetta (Lula), Leslie, Omer, Pearl W., Edward L. They lived in KY until after Civil war in Pendleton Cty KY and came to Ohio in 1889. James T. died in Zanesfield OH in May 1907. He is my grandfather and I cannot find his parents. James T. served in Civil War in Company B, 18th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infrantry, Oct 1861 & remained there until close of war.

My brick wall is my ggg-grandfather, James Henry Williams, born about 1810 in GA. He married Mary Elizabeth (possibly) Ethridge. According to family, James was a son of William Williams, Jr and Mary. The 1850 census of Irwin Co GA shows him living next door to Mary Williams, age 81, born in GA. On the other side of Mary is Stephen Williams, born about 1800 in GA. I suspect that James and Stephen may be brothers. There are several reseachers who claim Stephen is the son of William "Choctaw Bill" Williams and Penelope Richardson, who moved to LA about 1806-10. However, there is no documentation of this. Stephen was married first to Mary or Margery Daniel in Tattnall Co GA in 1823; second to Lydia, before 1850, place unknown. I am looking for information on either of these two men or their families.

The father is mostly like William Williams of Walton, New York and Elisha Williams a party of interest since before are named on a letter of Administration for a Thomas Williams in Delaware County, New York. The Howland lineage is interwoven at this point in time.

WILLIAMS was thought to be born in Westfield [? ], Massachusetts about 1791 and died in July 1884 and was buried in Colchester, NY; worked as a lawyer and 32 mason married around 1810-1814 to Mary Ann HOWARD who was born in Connecticut or Hamden, Delaware County, New York about 1798 . The 1860 US Census for Hamden, New York has Isaac and Mary residing with their son James’ family in Hamden, New York. Isaac is described in the census as a retired farmer. Isaac and Mary had six Children:

Henry was married to (1) Harriet M. or U. 2] James Howard WILLIAMS was born in Hamden, Delaware County, New York on 04 July 1819 and died in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania on 16 September 1888. James was married on 07 March 1847 to Electa Matilda SACKETT. She was born in Cape Vincent, Jefferson County, New York on 07 January 1828 and died on 01 August 1894. While in Delaware County, “he was one of the pioneers of the County in which he was born, and in early life followed lumbering and mercantile pursuits.” Virtually the entire Williams family ups and moves to Meadville, Pennsylvania in 1877 to run a hotel. The 1880 census has Floyd, Elbridge, Porter, Augustus, Mary, Isaac, Stanley, and Delos living with their parents. There is also an Elwood family working at the hotel, a possible in-law of Avis. By 1897, the Williams Bros. Laundry was founded and flourished for several decades.

3] James Porter “Porter” WILLIAMS was born in New York in December 1850. Porter married Mary UNKOWN LAST NAME they had no children. The Meadville directory of 1897, pg 108, has J.P. Williams working with Elbridge and Floyd at the Williams Bros. laundry. From at least 1910 to 1920, Porter is sharing a house with brother, Augustus, both widowers.

3] Maria Antoinette “Nettie” WILLIAMS was born in New York about 1852. From 1870 census, she was a school teacher at 18 in Colchester, NY. She married George D. BROCK, son of Donald Brock [born 1800] and Mary Jackson. Maria and George had seven children.

3] Elbridge P. WILLIAMS was born in New York in July 1854 and died after 1930. He never married. The Meadville Directory of 1897-98 shows he participated in the Williams Bros. laundry business. In the 1930 US Census, Elbridge was living with Floyd’s family in Meadville.

3] Delos S. WILLIAMS was born in New York about 1856. He married Anna Cora FERGUSON. Delos and Anna had five children. In 1880, it appears that Delos was counted twice in the US Census: in Meadville with his father and in the White Williams family of Youngstown, Ohio.

3] Stanley C. WILLIAMS was born in Downsville, Delaware County, New York on 05 February 1862. “He died 20 January 1908 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. He married Sarah Jane WILLIAMS. She was born in 1865 in Hubbard, Trumbull County, Ohio and died 03 November 1951 Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio.” Stanley and Sarah had two children:

3] Floyd Locke WILLIAMS was born in Downsville, Delaware County, New York on 01 April 1860 and died in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania on 26 September 1941. Floyd was married in Meadville, Pennsylvania on 08 May 1890 to Katherine (Kate) Melisa YOCUM. Kate was born in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania on 10 December 1866 and died in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania on 19 October 1907. She was the daughter of John YOCUM and Henrieta STYERS. Floyd and Kate managed a laundry in Meadville, PA. Floyd was quoted as saying that the Williams’ are descendents of Roger Williams of Rhode Island. Kate had 4 children.

My maiden name is "Williams" and my brick wall is sooooo high, you can't see over it. Here is my line: my dad - William Wesley Williams, Jr.;my grandfather, William Wesley Williams; my ggrandfather, William Thornton Williams. That's where it stops! Per 1900 & 1910 AL Blount County Census my Williams ...... William Thornton Williams was born in KY (possibly Louisville) about 1864. I am unable to find him in a census past 1910. Their children were: Elizabeth born Apr 1886; William Wesley (my grandfather) born 24 Feb 1890; Fred E. born Jan 1895; Lillian M. born Dec 1897; Wallace E. born 05 Apr 1900; Byron O. born Abt. 1902; and T. J. (Jake) born about 1905. William Thornton married my ggrandmother, Dulcena (Dullie) Pearson in AL Jefferson County 09 Mar 1884. I am unable to find my ggrandfather before 1900 and past 1910. My ggrandmother died 04 Sep 1945 and was buried in the Moncrief Cemetery in Gardendale, Jefferson County, AL. I can't find William anywhere. Help!!!!!!!!!!

I have posted here previously but now have a major breakthrough. My data is still in shambles and I have to concentrate on one line at a time to keep it straight but I could sure use some help now on my great grandfather Samuel Williams. I had posted here he was in Hempstead Co Ar but it has been brought to my attention that he is the Samuel Williams in Johnson County AR in 1840. Apparently he had a second wife I did not know about. Her name is Jane Gilbreath the daughter of Hugh and Rachel Gilbreath of Johnson Co AR. I need a birth and death date for her or anything else anyone can provide me with. My head is full of new data on what I suspect but I need to try and find paper doucmentation. My Samuel was born about 1807/NC vs TN was in Scott County AR 1850; Sebastian County AR 1860 and 1870. With this new revelation I have also figured out some on the connecting lines but I make too many errors to jump from one line to the other so more later when I can find more on Jane etc. Any little clue anyone has on this family would be most appreciated. Elias Williams was born est 1785 in SC., believed to be Orangeburg District. He married Ann Wolfe. I am seeking his parents. Since he named his only son Frederick perhaps his father was Frederick Williams. Most of Elias Wiliams lived in Lexington County, SC.

I am trying to find Bob Williams, who advertised his roots in this forum in 2005. He must be my distant cousin since we are both related to William Williams, Samuel Williams and Keziah Purdy.

I am living in Harpes Ferry, West Virginia, just up the hill from where our relative, William Williams, was working on the railroad bridge that fateful night in 1859, when John Brown and his men took him as their first prisoner.

Hi,I have hit a brick wall early in my search.My father was Samuel G. Williams born in ohio.His father Samuel S. Williams is listed as being born in Renek,W.V in 1888.only thing I can find on him is in 1900 census he is listed as a servant in the Henry Utt Fisher home.The story from a Fisher family member was the Williams family was poor and gave him to Henry Fisher to raise.in the 1900 census he is listed as Samuel B.Williams.He listed his father name as Bolivar on his marrage license to my grandmother.They'er all dead now and I need help!!!! thank you John Williams
