Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

I have a Jacob Williams born April 17, 1811 and died March 24, 1888. He married Margaret Catherine Kuhn, who was born February 14, 1803 and died September 11, 1876. There children were Sarah born February 14, 1836, Daniel born March 20, 1828 and moved to Indiana, George born Dec 18, 1841 and Jacob born February 05, 1844. All lived around Wolfsville in Frederick County, Maryland. I would like to know who Jacob Williams father is. I believe he maybe another Jacob Williams and his mother's first name maybe Margaret. Jacob Williams born 1811 may have been born in Pennsylvania.

I've followed my Williams line back to Francis and Abigail Williams in Knox County, Indiana Territory. Family lore says that Francis and his brother and their families came down the Ohio on flatboats and settled near Vincennes about 1800.

I have found records of Francis 'renting' his oxen to the soldiers at Fort Knox (just north of the town), voting and having cases in the local courts. I believe he was born in New York, and his wife either in New York or Massachusetts.

I have a copy of Francis' will (1812) listing his nine children and an inventory of household goods and stock. He was most certainly a carpenter to some degree having built a loom for a neighbor. I have records of his land which was located on the high ground between Busseron and Maria creeks.

This family is NOT connected to the Wheatland, Knox County, Williams family which came from Ohio and produced "Blue Jeans" Williams, governer of Indiana.

Francis and Abigail's children: Clarry, Daniel, Elizabeth,Nancy, Jonathan, William F., Abigail, Deborou, and Jane. I have lot of information on William F., Abigail, and Jane. My line is from William F(rancis) or Billy.

I have not been able to trace Francis before his arrival in Indiana in 1800. I am stuck on Clarry. What might be her full name? I am swamped by too many possibilities for the other children.

Eventually, Abigail married her neighbor, Edward Purcell, and had several more children. She died while living with her daughter, Abigail, between 1850 and 1860 per Greene County census records.

From census and church records, I know John "Martin" Williams was a resident of Salem Twp, Westmoreland Cty, PA in 1830. The last census record I can find is 1870 in Derry, PA. Census records state he was born in PA in 1803, but I know there is a family connection with the family of "Old Bill" Williams of NC and St. Louis. His wife is Mary "Polly" McCracken, also born in PA. His children were Nancy, Catherine, James (my grgrandfather), John, Robert, and Joseph.

Our Leroy Guthrie Williams was b. 1835 in Stewart Co. GA. I have very little information on Leroy until he came to Shelby Co. Tx. He had family there but I have no proof. He married Audelia Haight. Her family moved to Shelby Co. from Illinois.
He was in the Civil War for only a few months and was discharged because of an illness.
Leroy started a long journey from Shelby Co. to Anderson Tx, to Bell Co., Tx, Tarrant Co. Tx. Parker Co. Tx. Clay Co. Tx and back to Tarrant Tx. They both are burried in Hudson Cemetery in Tarrant Co. Tx.
I have been working for years to find some info about Leroy before he came to Shelby Co. Tx. Recently I have found that he may be the son of Jonathon Williams and Ann Guthrie married in Hall Co.Ga.in 1801. Robert Guthrie, from Elbert Co. Ga, was married to Elizabeth Johnson. One of their sons was Leroy Guthrie. Leroy Guthrie married Sarah Ann Williams. Their daughter was Ann Guthrie who married Jonathon Williams. I do not have proof that Leroy Guthire Williams is the son of Jonathon and Ann Williams. I would like to hear from people related to these people.

Researching William Williams line who married Verlinder
Jones. Verlinder was the daughter of Edward Jones. She
was born abt. 1755 and died in Prince Georges, Maryland. William Williams and Verlinder married about
1777.

William Williams was the son of Electious Williams who
died 25 July 1763 in VA. Family notes indicate William
Williams served during the RW. His father Electious and
a brother Laurence apparently arrived from Wales. Family notes state that the brothers brought a powder
gourd to America that William Williams carried during
his RW service. Laurence lived near Mt. Vernon, VA.
William Williams and Virlinder had a son Electious J.
Williams who was born 25 July 1783 in VA. He died
16 July 1870 in TN. Electious J. married Sarah Rawls about1815 in TN. She was born 02 June 1797 in Carthage,
Smith, TN. Sarah died 17 Sept 1834 in TN.

Their son Daniel Rawl Williams was born about 1823 in
Cleveland, MS. He married Nancy Ann DeCell 22 Apr 1851.
She was the daughter of George DeCell and Rebecca East.
She was born 01 Dec 1830 in Wesson, Copiah, MS. Nancy
died 09 Jan 1858.

Their son Charley Electious Williams, born 1857 in MS
died 30 Mar 1921 in TX. He married Elizabeth Small in 1879 in Bold Springs, TX. She was born 1862 in Gainsville, Cook, TX. Elizabeth died 23 Feb 1896 in Hillsboro, TX. Their daughter Emma Ann Williams married
Adolphus Wesley Leinart in TX.

Elizbeth Small's parents were J. E. Small and Mary
A. Williams (not sure of relationship to this William
Williams line). Mary Williams was born in MO circa
1840 to James Williams(born ca 1821) and Edith Unknown (other siblings are Nancy, Amos, James and Lydia).

We are seeking the parents of Edith Unknown, born
circa 1821 in MO.

Any additional information on these lines would be
greatly appreciated!!

Have been searching for info about my great-grandfather, Samuel Anderson Williams (b: abt 1855 in either Arkansas or Missouri) I have found him in 1880 Sharp County, Arkansas census. He is married to Sarah A. Goad (m: Nov 1874)and a brother is living with them (Alexander Williams b: abt 1857)

I have not been able to find him (for certain) prior to that. I am looking for any info before 1880 and would love to find his parents or siblings that can be confirmed.

He and Sarah Goad had 9 children:
William P. Williams b: abt 1879
Oliver T. Williams b: abt 1880
Oscar J. Williams b: abt 1883
Edgar T. Williams b: abt 1887
Idella Lee Williams Dailey b: abt 1889
Henry Madison Williams b: abt 1892
Arthur M. Williams b: abt 1894
Homer D. Williams b: abt 1899
Samuel Goldman Williams b: abt 1901

All of the children were born in Arkansas (in either White or Lawrence counties)

Any tips or help will be greatly appreciated!
