Williams Lineages Underway

This section is for people to post the various Williams lineages they are working on. This is an effort to publicize that brick wall you may or may not be hitting in hopes of finding others who either have information or are at the same wall. This section is now in a database and to make surfing the entries easier, I have set it up to display 15 lineages at a time. Simply use the next and previous buttons to navigate around!

And, as another improvement to the site, you can now add your own lineage to the list without having to email me directly! Simply visit the lineage submission form and follow the instructions! It's as easy as that!

Hi, I am trying to locate information on my great, great granddady, George Williams, Washington, Co, Ga
Different dates for his birth have been found, but one of the dates states he was born before 1800. He shows up on the 1830 census in Ga. He is also listed at Capt Mathew Leggett District earlier. He had two sons, Benjmain S. Williams, Dob 1824 and my great, great grandfather, James Paul Williams. I find hundreds of George Williams, but I can't find who he married, his mother and father, or where he came from, on one of the things I looked for for his kids, I did find something that he may have been from SC.
I wouold be very happy if you can help me with this.
I remember my father saying they came from Wales, VA, NC, SC, and then to Ga, and Ala.

God Bless you!
Nell

I am trying to locate information on my great, great grandfather, George Williams, who was born before 1800, probably in the late 1700's. He show's up in the 1800"s as being at Capt Mathew Leggett, GA, which was somewhere around Washington Co, GA. It does not list who his parents were, or where he came from. It also does not name his wife, even though on the kids birth certificate, they state that she was from SC. He had two sons, Benjamin S. and James Paul Williams who were both in the Civel War and latter setteled in Alabama, down near Hawridge,or New Brockton, in the southern part. James Paul was my great, great grandfather. I would appriciate it if you could supply me with any information. By the way, the census show that they lived in Washington Co, GA, and the children were born in Tennille, GA. I am not sure that George Williams was not also in the Civel War also.
Thanks,
Ne (Williams) Harris

The line I'm trying to get more information is Frank George Williams born Nov. 21, 1863 in Oakland, California; I believe his parents were Frank and Mary C Williams, who imigrated to Oakland by 1860. Frank George Williams married Ethel Sanger before 1888; I've been unable to find where they were married. What I do know is; he was a railroad man, his first child Merriam Clifford was born in Missoula, Montana, who also became a railroad engineer, both working for the Great Northern Railroad, on the oar docks in Superior, Wisconsin. Frank second son Harold Lloyd was born in Superior and also worked for railraid, unsure what he did though. Franks daughter was Hazel L and also born in Superior and live her whole life there, she married Fred McGrath. My father Clifford Theodore Williams was the youngest child of Merriam Clifford and from his second marriage

I made my first post today on the Williams genealogy forum about my gg-grandmother Sarah Williams born about 1806 in NY and married Joel Doolittle in Preble County Ohio 3 July 1828. They were in Decatur County Indiana for the 1840 and 1850 census and then she was in Indiana for 1870 and 1880. I have no idea who her parents were. Many of the Williams ancestors on this website seem to come from places other than NY so since you mention Chenango I thought I would email you.

Joel Doolittle came to Ohio with his brother Josiah and his nephew Loyal from upstate NY and prior to that Shoreham Vermont. Loyal Doolittle married Mary Allen in Preble County Ohio in 1829. I can't attach Sarah H. Williams to any family so I hope you might know something.

My brick wall is with my 4th great grandfather's parents. We know from census data Samuel Isaiah Williams was born about 1808 in TN. He married Keziah Morriset 10 Jun 1830 in Marion Co, IL. By 1850 census, he's moved over the county line into Jefferson Co, IL. He dies 8 Apr 1864 and we believe his widow remarries Ignatius Atchison Sr. 21 Aug 1870 in Jefferson Co, IL. We do not know where Keziah and her second husband are buried. Samuel is buried at the Williams Cemetery in Jefferson Co, IL.

I do have a photo of Samuel and Keziah's son, Jonathan Calvin Williams and his wife, Prudence Jane Atchison (daughter of a brother to Ignatius Atchison), and their son Samuel Barton Williams with his four children (he divorced his first wife after she ran off with a neighbor), John Isaiah, James Calvin, Vina J., and Cora M. Williams. John Isaiah is my great grandfather and I remember him well. He lived until after my first child was born. We have multiple 5 generation photos in my Williams family.

I'm trying to get a cousin do the DNA test so we can see if we match another line that's already been able to go back further.

If you have Williams family in Jefferson County, IL, I would love to hear from you.
